The Purchasing Department strives to promote Hinds County’s efficiency with prompt professional procurement services. We are motivated to get more for the taxpayer’s dollar. “The Best for Less”, with uninterrupted services, is our goal.

    The function of the purchasing department is to procure needed materials, supplies, machines, equipment, tools, commodities and services, at an ultimate cost consistent with economic conditions surrounding the item being purchased; to safeguard the standard of quality and continuity of service within all departments under the authority of the Board of Supervisors, according to their policies and state law.

    Hinds County Department of Purchasing operates under Mississippi’s county central purchase system (§31-7-101), where procurement is the sole responsibility of the department of purchasing.
